Handwoven Panama hats are not only stylish but also represent a crafted art form. To keep your hat looking sharp, here are a few tips on handling and maintaining it:

• Handling: Always take your Panama hat on and off by its brim, not by the pinch (the creased part of the crown). Grabbing it by the pinch over time can cause the straw to weaken, crease, or even split. The less you handle the pinch, the longer your Panama will retain its shape and strength.

• Avoid Moisture: It’s best to keep your Panama hat away from rain. While the straw can absorb some moisture, prolonged dampness can cause it to lose shape. Although it’s possible to re-block the hat, prevention is preferable. Avoid using waterproofing products, as they can alter the natural straw.

• Protect from Heat: Extreme heat can dry out the straw, making it brittle. If you live in a hot or dry climate, occasionally mist your Panama hat lightly with water to maintain its flexibility and prevent it from drying out.
